Constant is looking for a Formulation Chemist to join our dynamic teamm

The chemist is responsible for providing support to the various divisions: food and beverage/agricultural, institutional and industrial among others.

The candidate must have experience in formulation in same or equivalent industry and have knowledge of regulations in effect. The ability to work in a team with other chemists, and with the production team is a must.

Responsibilities:

1. R&D projects are performed in a timely, organized fashion based on established priorities
2. Work is carried out, documented and monitored as per established procedures
3. Formulation work is compliant to all relevant regulatory framework
4. R&D adheres to established criteria, depending on the project
5. Application tests are performed to confirm formulation performance prior to field testing
6. Adequate use directions are elaborated for newly-formulated products and communicated to sales team/clients to ensure proper field testing
7. Stability tests are performed and product specifications are determined prior to commercialisation
8. Formula sequence, process parameters and safety protocols of any new or modified formulae are properly elaborated and communicated to the production team
9. Equipment and laboratory are clean and in good working condition
10. All equipment and reagents necessary for the proper functioning of the lab are current and available
11. Laboratory work is done according to ISO standards
12. Laboratory log books/ controls and registers are compliant. (Log book on computer)
13. Services to clients and representatives are provided according to established procedures
14. Support is provided to regulatory affairs when requested to guarantee compliance with various regulatory bodies: Kosher, Health Canada, PMRA, CFIA, REACH, ISO, TDG, WHMIS, etc
15. Formulations are transcribed into computer systems error-free
16. R&D and other lab reports are generated in a concise and orderly fashion
17. Any changes or implementation of new materials, processes, methods or equipment are properly validated prior to putting them to use
18. Raw material source changes are compliant to internal specifications
19. Technical support is given to the sales team when required
20. Technical support is given to the production team as needed
21. Safety and security measures as well as proper industrial hygiene are followed in the laboratory at all times
22. A respectful and collaborative atmosphere is maintained in the laboratory
23. Keeps up with: industry trends and forecasts, upcoming regulatory requirements, new technologies and raw material offerings

Essential skills for success :

1. Minimum a bachelor's degree in chemistry with a concentration in chemistry in an appropriate field
2. Three to five years of experience in formulation and development of sanitary products, HI&I products, or other similar industry experience
3. Strong computer skills (Excel and Word)
4. The candidate must be a member of the Ordre des Chimistes du Québec
5. Excellent record-keeping skills
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills (French and English)
